Welcome to magicgreyhounds!

The new improved team consists of 10 greyhounds: the target being to have 100 races per year through to the end of 2010, whilst competing in the major NGRC competitions.

Good things are hoped for from a major recent investment in 5 carefully selected young dogs, which in time should all be regulars on the Open race circuit.

Non-racing captain of the team is my first-ever dog, Belvedere Robin, now aged 11, and retired after running over 100 races. He remains well after a recent health scare, and continues to enjoy himself in the kennels of his former trainer Kath Smith.

Kath also has 4 of the magicgreyhounds team in training: Sparkly Magic is a June 2006 pup yet to race, whilst Kendra Magic, Bettyville Spice and Kynan Magic are animals in the latter stages of their careers, and all recently on the injured list. Kynan is back sprinting at Reading, and the others are trialling back over coming weeks.

The new team acquisitions are:

Droopys Nicola, trained by Dean Childs. This Droopys Maldini / Droopys Beauty black/white bitch started her Open race career at Coventry in March 2008. A July 2006 pup, she has early pace and stays well, and is from a highly-successful litter and dam line. Now in season, she will not be seen again until July.

Top trainer Mark Wallis has Scintillas Ruby and Ballyfinn Swift.

Ruby is a huge (31kg!) May 2006 brindle bitch which has already raced and won in Ireland. Showing good early pace, she was only just eliminated from the Wimbledon Derby in the second round, in one of the toughest heats. She will continue to be campaigned in 4-bend Open races.

Swift (Crash / Not So Dark, September 2006) is a white/black dog currently running in graded races at Walthamstow. He is already showing great pace, and should improve massively with experience.

Still in Ireland and being reared at the Elbony kennels of Ken Duce, are a dog and bitch from the August 2007 Brett Lee / Elbony Inferno litter. From a proven cross, and the best stud dog, it is hoped that these two saplings will develop into Open class.

Pictured right is Kendra, July 2004 fawn bitch from my ex-racer Treaty Magic's second litter, to Crack Off. It is hoped she will return to racing soon after recovery from a broken hock and gracillus injury.
